Workforce Planning: Research Conducted by Crunchflow Shows Industry's Biggest Challenges

Forecasting talent needs and analytic capabilities linked to workforce planning were among the challenges mentioned by interviewees

PR Newswire

NEW YORK, Aug. 1, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Improving planning and forecasting processes is a priority among workforce planning professionals, according to the Global Workforce Planning Survey published by Crunchflow Inc. – a New-York-based company that provides solutions in workforce planning.

Results show that 66.67% of all interviewees consider "Workforce Forecasting" as their most important task, well above "Hiring and Promoting Better", cited by only 14.81%.

"Today, the greatest challenge that managers face is to maintain their teams always ready to answer upcoming demands and to take advantage of opportunities that appear on the market", says Daniel Knijnik, Crunchflow's CEO.

At the same time, the research suggests that this is not an easy task. Knijnik points out that "Workforce Forecasting" also appears as the biggest problem that they face. The issue was cited by 51.85% of interviewees. Another 32.73% said that their biggest problem is "Developing Workforce Analytics Capabilities".

According to Knijnik, the study proves that managers recognize the importance of workforce planning tools. "On top of improving their organization's performance levels, they are interested in supporting decision making strategies for their business", says the CEO of Crunchflow.

Analytics consolidating as a top priority

In the study, conducted during the month of July, 1,450 questionnaires were applied to professionals specialized in workforce planning globally. The results have brought a new perspective regarding their priorities for the next five years.

To the interviewees, solutions brought by big data and analytical capabilities will have an importance of 4.62 points (in a scale of 1 to 5) in the workforce planning industry until 2021.

On the other hand, when answering the question "How Are Your Company's Capabilities in Terms of Big Data and Workforce Analytics?", managers gave their companies a lower score, of only 3.06 points (out of 5). Their satisfaction level with workforce planning tools and software was also low – only 2.80 in average.

"Many managers use spreadsheets at work. Others use a mix of managing tools that, often, do not function in an integrated manner", says Knijnik. "This is an opportunity for companies to improve their Workforce Planning capabilities", he adds.
